Anyone who has taken an OSINT class with me knows how much I love Obsidian. In addition to taking notes, I use it to organize my tasks, priorities, and other details for my SANS courses, business, and personal life.
Like many practitioners, I rely on pinned browser tabs as temporary bookmarks for interesting content I’d want to review later. We’ve all been there – you’re deep into a project or investigation when you stumble upon something fascinating but unrelated to your current focus. Your browser slowly fills with pinned tabs, each representing a thread you don’t want to lose but can’t pursue right now.
My friend Nico (@dutch_osintguy) recently added Obsidian Web Clipper, a fantastic browser plugin. It’s free to use, easily installed in web browsers, and makes it one-click simple to add web pages to any Obsidian vault you choose. Obsidian Web Clipper gives me another option to file a link away for later, leaving my browser slightly less cluttered with tabs than usual.
For OSINT practitioners, this workflow enhancement is particularly valuable. Investigations often involve following multiple leads simultaneously, and the ability to quickly capture and organize information without breaking focus on your primary target is crucial.
Adding the Web Clipper should be a no-brainer if you’re already using Obsidian for your research. It’s more than just a convenient feature; it’s a powerful tool that helps you maintain focus while ensuring no valuable information slips through the cracks.
